Scott Beel’s game wrap up:

Well another wasted year for the senior side, who after going down to Red Hill on Saturday, cannot make finals for season 2016. Very disappointing after some specific recruiting at that start of the year, to replace the players we had lost. The positive news is that the reserve boys will play finals in 2016 and are a chance of a top 3 finish. Well done to the reserve on a great come from behind victory against Red Hill on Saturday.

Well the seniors after a positive first quarter, in which saw the boys 28 points up at ¼ time, had a shocking 2nd quarter. Letting Red Hill kick 9 unanswered goals, totally unacceptable. It’s these lapses in concentration and commitment that have us sitting 7th on the ladder. The second half didn’t get much better, with the Rye senior team only kicking another 3 goals for the game, very disappointing in deed.

A bye next week, then our last game of the year against Dromana at Rye on August the 13th. Lets hope we can finish the year with a win, to get some momentum into season 2017. Obviously the playing group needs a shake up and with some good junior players showing some great form in season 2016, youth and some smart recruiting is needed.
